Take a leadership position and be responsible for providing design and overall services for server administration, monitoring system performance, maintenance tuning, account and password management, capacity planning, security, documentation, and root cause analysis of server technology.
Responsibilities:
-Participate in all system-related design and deployment projects, including software and back-office system upgrades, security issues and management system implementations.
-Lead technical staff with planning initiatives, and be able to identify long-term effects of changes, upgrade paths, and other technical plans.
-Formulate and enforce strict Change Management policies regarding production changes.
-Design systems to monitor server platforms to achieve optimum performance levels and make preventative adjustments.
-Collaborate with team to assess future growth and capacity requirements.
-Proactively research new and/or updated technologies.
-Create and maintain documentation relating to Server configuration, share mapping, processes, and service records.
-Design and provide DNS, DHCP, LDAP systems configuration. Configure hardware and software for servers, RAID, storage arrays.
-Conduct research on server products, services, protocols, and standards.
-Perform cost analyses and vendor comparisons to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations; measures feasibility of various approaches and make recommendations as appropriate.
-Provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced engineers and other technical staff and may participate in special projects as required.
Qualifications:
-Experience in progressively advancing Windows and server systems administration.
-Experience in trading environments, including Trading Technologies, Bloomberg, Akonix, Citrix, SQL server, Zenworks.
-Follow strict Change Management policies regarding production changes.
-Participate in architecture decisions.
-Ensure 24x7x365 operation
-Rapidly scale systems to meet demand.
-Write comprehensive documentation.
-Expert knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems.
-DNS, AD, DHCP environments.
-VMware ESX server experience or other virtualization platforms.
-Proficient in Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange applications.
-Highly knowledgeable in Microsoft Network Infrastructure and Architecture layout.
-Network monitoring and trouble shooting.
-SAN experience on both fiber channel and iSCSI.
-While this position is not a DBA, must have recent experience with MSSQL, SQL in general, and how to quickly deploy MSSQL 2005 servers.
-Excellent verbal, written, and customer service skills.
-Supporting a working development team.
-Server security techniques.
-Working in a team environment.
-Knowledgeable in EMC Avamar Backup & Recovery products or other network backup solutions.
